Level 3 NVQ in Investigations Syllabus

National Vocational Qualifications consist of Units of competence that are defined as the ability to perform prescribed tasks to a defined standard on a consistent basis with proven underpinning knowledge.

In Level 3 a candidate must take any 3 of the Mandatory Units and any 4 of the Optional Units to achieve the Award, further credits can be awarded for additional Optional Units if the candidate decides to do them.

 

Mandatory Units

Unit 001     Contribute to the effectiveness of investigation teams.

Unit 002     Contribute towards the development of intelligence for an

                   investigation.

Unit 003     Gather information from witnesses.

Unit 021     Manage information for action.

 

Optional Units

Unit 004     Gather information from suspects.

Unit 005     Undertake a search to secure physical evidence.

Unit 006     Arrest and detain.

Unit 007     Contribute to official proceedings.

Unit 008     Undertake process serving which supports official proceedings.

Unit 009     Participate in surveillance operations.

Unit 011     Progress investigations to implementation.

Unit 012     Investigate sources of information and develop intelligence for an

                   investigation.

Unit 013     Analyse and evaluate evidence arising from an investigation.

Unit 014     Lead the work of teams and individuals to improve customer service.

Unit 024     Enter and integrate data and present information using a computer
